ABATE of New Mexico – Tularosa Basin Chapter January Meeting
Secretary's Report for the meeting held: January 9, 2009
- The meeting was called to order at 11:10AM by Jary Rupe (Coord.) at Coffee and More, in Tularosa. Members present included Jary and Debi W. Rupe (Sec'y.); Jim (Road Captain) and Debbie Jo Burrell (Treasurer); Steve Sandy (Deputy Coord.) and Tami Foor; Hippy and Cindy Broughton; Kim Carr, and Norma Clute. Guest present was Haley Carr (Kim's granddaughter.
- Prior Month's Minutes: Debi Rupe gave out copies of the December 12th meeting minutes.
Steve made the motion to approve the minutes as written. The motion was seconded by Tami and approved.
Treasurer's Report:
- Paid out since last meeting was $200 to the Tularosa Community Church Food Pantry and $200 to the (Tularosa) Methodist Church Food Pantry.
- Paid out of crash fund since last meeting for "Joker" from Las Cruces: $200
- Funds collected since the last meeting for Toys: $59.92
- Crash Fund collections during meeting: $17.00
- Bill submitted and paid at meeting: None

Announcements:
- Eddie Martinez Benefit: February 28th Las Cruces sponsored by Barnett and another dealership.
Old Business:
- Toy Run Wrap Up: A big thank you goes to all the members. A special thank you to Kim Carr, Debbie Jo and Jim; and Steve and Tami; and of course Jim Sr., who might as well be a member, because of all he does.
- Toy Run Bag Inserts: As all of you know who bagged toys know, Debi dropped the ball on the inserts and you had to wait on her to finish up. Well, she has designed the inserts for next year, napkin wraps, and a poster design she would like you to check out.
New Business:
- Special Meeting December 19th: Jary called a special meeting on Toy Run Present distribution day, to vote to distribute $200.00 to the two (2) Food Banks in Tularosa and $200.00 to ("Joker"), the downed biker in Las Cruces. Members present were Jary and Debi Rupe; Jim and Debbie Jo Burrell; and Steve Sandy and Tami Foor. Jim made the motion to distribute the funds and Debbie Jo seconded the motion. The motion passed.
- State Meeting: January 23rd, at the Elks Lodge in Rio Rancho at 12noon.
- Easter Egg Hunt Poster: Jim said it would be great to have 12 to put in the schools a couple of weeks in advance.
- Polar Bear Run after the meeting: Postponed until the next meeting due to cold.
